Thank you for your interest in SimTopia by Stan Designed!
Section 1 the HUD and meter:
SimTopia is a loot based combat system with lots of features including npc mob and team gaming integration! First lets go over the basics of the hud and meter.
The first thing you will want to do is put on the meter, this is the object worn on your head that displays information about your character to other players. The meter also contains coding for the system and must be worn in order for the system to function properly. Second you will need to wear your HUD simply labeled SimTopia. The HUD or heads up display is your on screen information and the meat of the system. Lets go over the three basic tabs of the HUD.
Tab 1 the stat tab:
Team: You join a team by participating in games and touching the appropriate base. Once you join a team the HUD and meter will display what team you have joined. Teams are vital for gaming and distinguishing yourself in PvP. On death you will be prompted with a teleport map to the location of that team's base. As long as the land area you are teleporting to does not have a landing point designated you will be teleported to that base. If you do not wish to teleport to your base simply hit clear on the map to remove the teleport marker.
Health: This is your vitality, loose it all and you die! If you die you will be prompted with a teleport map to your base and any weapon, armor or accessory will have to be removed and have to be put back on. For non SimTopia weaponry your controls will be lost and you will still have to reattach the weapon. After level 5 you will start loosing credits on death .
Level: As you kill Stan-Designed mobs with SimTopia integration you will gain experience and your character will level up. Looted items may have a level requirement to use and as you level you will gain a small amount of health.
Credits: Credits are the game currency, you gain them by killing Stan-Designed mobs with SimTopia integration or other players in PvP. Players must be at least level 5 in order to loot credits from them. Credits are used to repair or reload items with ammo as well as other functions that would require currency.
PvP: This is your pvp ranking, as you kill other players your rank rises and if they kill you it lowers and theirs rises. As you kill other players in PvP you may get looted items that require a minimum PvP rank in order to use.
Hunger: As your avatar hunts and fights and participates in general role play they will get hungry. Several lootable and purchasable items will sate your avatar's hunger. If you starve your avatar they will surely die.
Breath: Realistic combat wouldn't be complete without drowning imo so this depicts how long you can stay under water. If you are under water for more than 60 seconds you will start taking damage and eventually die. Special items may allow you to breathe a little longer.
The arrow button: This is found on the top right corner of each tab and will toggle what tab you will see.
Tab 2 the menu tab:
Help: This button will give you a notecard with useful information about the system!
Loot Pool: You have the option to change what loot pool you want to use. Choose between Melee, Mage, FPS, SciFi or default. If you choose the default setting and you will get whatever loot that particular mob gives.
Listen Mode: Sometimes you will need to turn on the listen function in order for the HUD and items to communicate. Usually the item will tell you when Listen Mode needs to be turned on. Listen mode was incorporated to slim down sim lag from too many listeners.
Reset Hud: Sometimes in Second Life you need to reset stuff.... This will reset the hud.
PvP Toggle: This option toggles weather or not you will take damage from other players and participate in PvP. This must be turned on in order to participate in team games and will be shown on your meter.
Sex toggle: Are you male or female? Choosing a sex will dictate what items you can use. Male only armor for instance can not be used by females.
Tab 3 the Item tab:
This tab shows what items are equipped and what resistances they provide. If you happen to loot a piece of SimTopia armor for instance it will register with the HUD when worn and generally detach itself. To remove the item being used you would touch the appropriate icon on the Item tab. On death all items are removed.
Shield/Burn/Frost/Electric/Corrode/Pierce/Shrapnel: These are the basic damage types allowed in SimTopia, mobs and weapons with the proper integration can do any of these damage types. Armors and accessories can give you resistances to these damage types and they are shown here.
PvE R: This is a special resistance for Player vs Environment only. This is an all resist that stacks with other resistances but does not work for PvP combat. Looted Armors may give you this resistance.
PvP R: This is a special resistance for Player vs Player only. This is an all resist that stacks with other resistances but does not work for PvE combat. Looted Armors may give you this resistance.
Armor: This is your armor icon and gives you resistances to different damage types. Looted Items may have level, sex or PvP rank requirements in order to use them. Touch this icon to remove it from your HUD if you would like to wear another piece.
Accessory: This is a special kind of looted item that may be added to increase resistances above what your armor allows. Looted Items may have level, sex or PvP rank requirements in order to use them. Touch this icon to remove it from your HUD if you would like to wear another piece.
Weapon: This is your weapon, If you meet the requirements for a SimTopia looted weapon the weapon will be shown here. Looted Items may have level, sex or PvP rank requirements in order to use them. Touch this icon to remove it from your HUD if you would like to wear another piece.
Section 2 weapons, armor and other items:
Section 1: How do SimTopia looted items work?
Throughout your time using weapons with the proper damage convention you can loot items from mobs and by killing other players in PvP mode. While any velocity based weapon will do damage to the SimTopia meter and Stan-Designed mobs a damage hierarchy has been put in place that includes armor resistances and damage types. Velocity damages will not trigger a loot pool and you will not get free SimTopia loot by using them. Different weapons can do different damage types and have different strengths. Looted items may have level, player sex and/or PvP rank requirements to wield them. If a SimTopia looted weapon is worn it will tell you if you meet the requirements to use it and if you are able an icon will show on your SimTopia HUD to let you know the item is in use. If the icon is touched or if you die your worn items will be removed and you will have to attach them again.
Items may loose durability over time and may need to be repaired. Weapons may run out of ammo and may need to be reloaded. When you wear the item it will tell you information like durability and ammo available. If you need to repair or reload an item you will have to do so by using credits. Credits are earned through killing Stan-Designed mobs and looted from other players in PvP mode.
To repair or reload an item you must have your SimTopia HUD set to listen mode and then simply touch your item for a menu. If you have enough credits available you can repair or reload from the menu.
If you no longer require the item you may be able to sell it for more credits. This is done the same way you repair or reload but the item must be placed on the ground in world for the sell option to appear on the menu. Once again your SimTopia HUD must be set to listen mode in order to sell items to it.
SimTopia looted items are not modifiable but may be sold to other players. Simply place the item in world at your shop location and set the item's price for sale. Other players may touch your SimTopia items for sale and get info such as durability, ammo available, level, sex and PvP requirements. Other info such as weapon damage type and item tier can be found on the object's description.
Section 2: Create your own weapons!
To create your own weapon a damage object must be rezzed in front of your avatar with a velocity of at least 4 to trigger damage. If you are not sure how to code your own weaponry the default pop gun should be in everyone's inventory. To trigger the proper damage you must put the proper code on the description of the damage object. For example the generic damage object of the pop gun is called bullet and is located inside the gun.
An example of the damage hierarchy is as follows:
PK,stmeleedamage,low
“PK” is stated first in capitals to tell the player or mob being damaged the damage object is from a player and to trigger a damage type. This must always be on your damage objects or the damage type will not work and you will not get any SimTopia loot. You may only damage other players if they have their meter set to PK mode.
“stmeleedamage” is the type of damage you want to inflict. This can be mitigated by mob resistances and player armors. Player armors can be bought from Stan-Designed and are found by hunting mobs and other players.
All available damage types are:
stshrapneldamage
stcorrodedamage
stelectricdamage
stfrostdamage
stburndamage
stpiercedamage
stmeleedamage
stpkdamage "Ignores all resistances accept PvP R"
“low” is the strength of damage you want to inflict. While higher strengths do higher damages they also increase the timer between hits that can be inflicted on the player or mob. For example inflicting a “low” damage type will cause a mob or player to not take damage for another 1 second while a “Bomb” damage type will do much more damage but cause a mob or player to not take damage again for 10 seconds.
Below are the damage strengths and timers:
low :7-10dam 1.0 sec
med :12-15 dam 1.5 sec
high :17-20 dam 2.0 sec
bomb: 47-50 dam 4 sec
Commas must separate the three categories so once again the example below must be placed on the description of the damage object being rezzed by the weapon and it must be rezzed with at least a velocity of 4:
PK,stmeleedamage,low
Player created weapons do not require credits to repair or reload but will also do less inherent damage than looted weapons. Better weapons that are looted will contain the same damage hierarchy but will do more damage based on the tier. Trainer weapons and player created weapons are tier 0 and do not do enhanced damage like looted items.
